The media industry today is facing unprecedented disruption and uncertainty. From declining advertising revenue to shrinking newsrooms and the scourge of “fake news”, various forces are threatening to undermine the foundation of journalism.
As a small and independent news outlet in such a tumultuous media landscape, Eco-Business has not had an easy journey when it comes to fulfilling our mission: to educate and advocate on sustainable development issues in Asia Pacific, and to serve as a watchdog for the region’s decision-makers.
Seven years ago, we started out as a team of two passionate individuals; today, we have 15 dedicated staff in Singapore, Manila, Kuala Lumpur, and Hong Kong, with hundreds of other writers and experts in our network —and we are still growing.
On this journey, we are not only proud to have consistently brought you the important environmental and business stories that matter, but we have also connected with clients, partners, and readers from around the world to grow the conversation on how businesses can help solve the most important challenges of our time.
Our partnerships with the region’s sustainability community have helped us present some truly exciting and meaningful initiatives: Singapore’s largest zero-waste campaign Eco-Bank, presented in partnership with City Developments Limited; the first Circular Economy Challenge calling for ideas to improve business models; The SDG Co, the first-of-its-kind co-working space for sustainability-focused professionals in Asia Pacific, and regional networking events for leaders in Asia.
We have grown to represent a new breed of media - one that focuses on purposeful journalism. That is, journalism that wants to solve problems; give a voice to initiatives that are doing good but may not always catch the attention of traditional newsrooms; and bring you incisive analysis that helps you make sense of developments in the rapidly changing and complex field of sustainability.
As we gear up to celebrate our seventh birthday, we have put together a video showcasing our work, and our purpose-driven philosophy. We hope you’ll watch and share the video, subscribe to our newsletter, and get in touch to be a part of the conversation about how to create a better world.
