Purpose Venture Capital announces the appointment of its newest board advisor, Christian Polman, as it continues to build global reach and connections into European Family Offices.
As an impact investor and board member of the Polman family office, Christian is dedicated to finding, supporting, and developing new business models and systems for a healthier planet. Alongside engagement with VC, PE and other investors, him and his family invest in areas where long-term orientation and system-wide approaches unlock the potential to generate multiplier effects.
With a particular focus on natural capital and in speeding up the world’s transition to net zero, they are similarly guided by the conviction that good business delivers both positive societal purpose and profit at scale. Over the past few years, they have invested in impact-oriented startups such as Who Gives a Crap, PulsESG, Toast Ale, and Hintsa.
Christian also brings experience in business and growth strategies and a passion for team leadership. Most recently, Christian was Chief Strategy Officer at LSE AIM-listed Ebiquity plc - a global marketing analytics consultancy - and Managing Director at brand agency Looping Group, leading their work with global brands in automotive and consumer tech, and setting up and spearheading the company’s first international office in London. He has also led marketing and communications teams, client council and engagement, and research and thought leadership.
In joining Purpose Venture Capital, Christian will also bring vast experience as a business leader and strategist, having previously held senior leadership roles in strategy, corporate development, analytics, and commercial leadership. His sector experience stretches private equity, media and marketing, technology, consumer goods, and web3.
He holds an MBA with a focus on strategy & operations and an undergraduate degree from Cornell University in urban studies. Christian grew up internationally, speaks several languages, is an advocate for cycling and the outdoors, and is a husband and father of two.
“We are honoured to have Christian Polman joining us in our mission in delivering Profit with Purpose. His support sets the stage for increased engagement with sustainability-focused family offices and global impact” said Sertac Yeltekin, General Partner, Purpose Venture Capital.
Christian Polman commented: “I’m more than thrilled to join the team at Purpose Venture Capital as we pioneer new approaches to investing that better align business and purpose. We are jointly motivated to prove that business will play an enduring role in creating a more sustainable and equitable future, and we share a conviction that thoughtful technology and innovation – as we are seeing in the NatureTech movement – will accelerate that transition.”
