uHoo, an environmental data platform for the built environment, won a city-wide multi-year contract with the City of Fontana in the state of California, USA.
The City of Fontana, California’s 19th largest city and 2nd largest in the county of San Bernardino, deployed the uHoo Aura across all government facilities that include government offices, the city hall, community centres, police stations, fire departments and elderly care homes, among others, to monitor and manage the indoor environment in real-time, to enhance the health and well-being of its residents and employees, and to decarbonise their buildings / facilities.
uHoo provides a data-driven approach to managing Fontana’s facilities. Decisions can now be made based on concrete data and issues prevented from occurring. By embracing data-driven solutions from uHoo, the City of Fontana sets an example for other cities in California and beyond, paving the way for a future where cities proactively address environmental concerns and create healthier and more sustainable spaces for their residents.
“We are honoured and excited to partner with the City of Fontana. This partnership is a testament to the exceptional quality and reliability of our products and the value we provide. This partnership also reaffirms our commitment to improving health and well-being and decarbonizing the built environment,” Dustin Jefferson S. Onghanseng, CEO of uHoo stated.
Sustainability and ESG are high on the agenda among the private and public sectors. In line with this, the Singapore Green Building Masterplan (SGBMP) aims to have at least 80 per cent of buildings (by floor area) in Singapore to be green by 2030. This means that buildings need to be super low energy (SLE) in its operations and yet maintain a healthy environment indoors to ensure the health and well-being of its occupants.
This is achieved by utilising energy-efficient infrastructure and taking a data-driven and smart approach in the operations of this infrastructure. uHoo provides all the data and intelligence that a building needs to maintain a healthy indoor environment while optimizing and reducing the energy use of the building.
Joy Gai, Head of Asia Pacific Programmes, World Green Building Council (WorldGBC) says “The WorldGBC, recognizing the compelling business case for healthy buildings, has formulated a comprehensive health and well-being framework. Through its extensive research, the WorldGBC underscores that the design of an office profoundly influences the health and well-being of its occupants. This understanding, backed by an increasing body of evidence, is leading employers, building owners, designers, developers, and investors globally to acknowledge that it’s a wise business decision to invest in green buildings that promote health and well-being.”
The Philippine Green Building Council (PHILGBC) recently upgraded the BERDE (Building for Ecologically Responsive Design Excellence) standard to incorporate health and well-being aspects in the built environment on top of energy efficiency. According to Raymond Rufino, Chairman of PHILGBC and Chief Executive Officer of NEO, “uHoo’s cutting-edge technology aligns seamlessly with the upgraded BERDE standard, emphasizing health and well-being in the built environment. With a focus on sustainability and ESG, uHoo aids in achieving super low energy (SLE) operations while ensuring occupant health. By providing real-time data and insights, uHoo empowers buildings to create sustainable, green, and occupant-centric spaces.”
uHoo’s technology is also certified by the Singapore Green Building Council (SGBC) as a green building product. uHoo is the only product in its category that has achieved such a certification. Being recognised by the SGBC ensures uHoo’s clients, both in private and public sectors that uHoo products are of high quality and follow environmentally friendly standards.
Sustainability is a movement that requires the collective effort of various parties in order to preserve the environment and the world for our future generations. uHoo believes that clean air is a fundamental human right and it is only through collective effort that we can make the indoor environment, a space where we spend more than 90 per cent of our time in, a healthy, safe, and decarbonised one.
